We are thrilled to announce the launch of a truly unique and interdisciplinary project: The Shattered Soul. This is the inaugural opus from our new persona, The Lyrical Self, a work that transcends the boundaries of music and literature to offer a profound journey into the human psyche.
The Shattered Soul is both a book of poetry and a musical album. The book serves as the foundation, presenting a series of raw and visceral poems that explore the themes of obsession, psychological fragmentation, and the slow dissolution of the self. Each poem is accompanied by a psychoanalytic commentary, transforming the literary experience into a window into the mind.
The musical component, titled "A Alma em Cacos: Nove Cantatas Sacras para voz e Cordas (The Shattered Soul: Nine Sacred Cantatas for Voice and Strings), is the sonic representation of this journey. Crafted as a sacred lament in the style of 13th-century Italian Baroque, the album gives voice to the unspoken suffering found in the verses. The music, with its poignant countertenor and string arrangements, adds a new layer of emotion and gravity to the narrative.

This project is a testament to the core philosophy of THE TWELVE TAPES LABEL. It is rooted in the question, "Who cares for the one who cares?" and serves as a form of self-analysis, a way to give form and voice to a suffering that is both deeply personal and universally human. The Lyrical Self is the artistic channel for this exploration.
We invite you to experience this work in its entirety. Listen to the cantatas on all major streaming platforms, and read the poetry and analyses in the book, available now on Amazon. Join us in this journey and stay tuned for what's to come from the twelve distinct personas of our label.
