Lyrics for "Chronicle of Woe: A Tragedy in Seven Acts"
01 - Prologue: Crown of Ashes
There was a king upon the throne,
Whose crown was forged of blood and stone.
The bishop blessed, the banners waved,
But truth was chained, and love enslaved.
The realm was built on sacred lies,
Where fire burned the purest eyes.
O kingdom cold, O reign of night,
Your saints are blind, your swords are right.
But in the dark a vow is born,
A knight shall rise, a crown be torn.
And thus begins… the tale of woe.
02 - Act I — Interlude I (Instrumental)
03 - Act II — The Knight’s Oath
Beneath the banners, steel and flame,
I swore my oath, I bore the name.
The crown was law, the sword was mine,
To guard the realm, the holy sign.
But fate is cruel in shadow’s breath,
It binds with love, it breaks with death.
I saw her hands in healing’s grace,
A peasant’s child, a lowly face.
Yet in her eyes the world was torn,
And I, a knight, was twice reborn.
Her herbs, her touch, the whispered cure,
The church called sin — but I was sure.
No throne, no cross could break the spell,
No saint could silence what I felt.
Forbidden fire, a secret flame,
A nameless vow without a name.
I bore the sword, yet lost my shield,
For love no king could grant or yield.
I saw her hands in healing’s grace,
A peasant’s child, a lowly face.
The church would curse, the king would frown,
But still my heart betrayed the crown.
O love that lives where graves begin,
The holiest sin, the holiest sin.
04 - Act III — Ashes Beneath the Crown
In halls of stone where silence bled,
I bore the sword, I bowed my head.
The king would pray, the monks would chant,
But love, forbidden, dared to plant.
Your eyes in shadow, veiled in grace,
Lit candles in the sacred place.
No word was spoken — yet I knew,
The fire lived in me and you.
They called you witch, they cursed your name,
They lit the pyre, they fed the flame.
And I stood still in mailed regret,
As roses burned and skies turned red.
No sin was yours, no guilt, no spell,
Just beauty carved too deep to tell.
But kingdoms fall to fear and lies —
And saints go blind to tearful cries.
They chained your hands, they stripped your pride,
But could not steal what lived inside.
A glance, a vow — without a word,
The loudest prayer I ever heard.
They called you witch, they cursed your name,
They lit the pyre, they fed the flame.
And I, the blade who could not save,
Now guard your ghost beside your grave.
Ashes drift through chapel air,
The scent of my despair.
The cross, the crown, the oath I keep —
But you... you haunt me in my sleep.
05 - Act IV — Interlude II (Instrumental)
06 - Act V — Cathedral of Echoes
I walked beneath the broken nave,
Where shadows sing and angels cave.
[Pre-Chorus]
The silence fell like falling stone,
Each breath a hymn, each word alone.
The pipes they groaned with mournful light,
A dying sun in endless night.
The bells were drowned in ocean's swell,
And time collapsed inside the shell.
Oh, light that burns in minor key,
Take this soul and bury me.
Where echoes live and graves forget,
And sins are sung but not regret.
The pipes they groaned with mournful light,
A dying sun in endless night.
The bells were drowned in ocean's swell,
And time collapsed inside the shell.
"Silentium cecidit ut saxum grave"
07 - Act VI — Interlude III (Instrumental)
08 - Final Act — The King’s Severed Throne
Through halls of blood I walked alone,
My steps were steel, my heart was stone.
The king, the bishop — both conspired,
They lit the pyre, they fed the fire.
And in the smoke her face returned,
The oath I swore, the vow I burned.
O crown of lies, O throne of pain,
I come to break your holy chain.
The blade that failed to save her breath,
Now sings the hymn of sovereign death.
The guards all fell, the banners torn,
The night betrayed the coming morn.
The king arose in fear’s command,
I struck the truth with bloody hand.
No priest, no cross, no holy word,
Could stop the sentence I had heard.
O crown of lies, O throne of pain,
I come to break your holy chain.
The blade that failed to guard the flame,
Now carves the end of crown and name.
The head rolled down the marble stair…
And nothing more.
Nothing.
